Sunday Stuff 4-23-23
Welcome to the very first edition of Sunday Stuff - your weekly dose of inspiration and curated content.
I am Warren Farmer, and I am excited to share this journey through all the stuff I love about food, entertaining, design, travel, and personal technology. Every week, I'll be scouring the internet for the latest and greatest products, services, and creators in these categories. I'll select my top 5 things and provide links to where you can learn more about them. Whether you're looking for the perfect foods & entertainment ideas to entertain your guests, the latest gadget or product to make your life easier, or simply some travel or design inspiration, Sunday Stuff has got you covered. So, if you're someone who loves to explore new ideas and expand your horizons, then SundayStuff is the newsletter for you.
KUHN RIKON GRIPPER-OPENER
This is hands down the best jar and bottle opener that has ever been manufactured. You never need to worry about struggling with a jar again (and yes, I know it looks like the "Flux Capacitor" from Back to the Future).
If you have any arthritis or joint issues or more importantly, elderly parents or loved ones with these conditions, they will appreciate this more than you could know. I wish this had existed when my mother was alive.
Click the Amazon link here to look at the video and other images. It may seem a little pricey, but I think it’s worth every penny
(Full disclosure - I will receive a small commission from Amazon if you purchase from this item)
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN MADRID
Madrid is currently my go-to place to start European travel. I've just fallen in love with the culture, architecture and vibe
of the city. If Madrid is in you future travel plans here are acouple of local places to try that I think you'll like. Vides Vinoteca - a wonderful Chueca Neighborhood wine bar with delicious tapas and a very friendly owner, Vicentes, who makes you feel like one of the locals. Be sure to complement Vicente on his new refrigerators.
Casa Gonzales - the best way to describe CG would be a neighborhood wine-deli - try to get the table in the front window and order beautiful plates of meats and cheeses and a huge selection of wines. Located in the Las Letras Neighborhood
CREATING WITH CANVA
Canva is one of the best tools that has ever existed for anyone that wants to create their own designs. This newsletter is created with Canva as well as most everything you've ever seen me "digitally" create. Even if you have no interest in creating social media content or websites there is so much you can do with this powerful tool. You could make your own business cards, party invites, photo collages, etc. Best of all it's FREE! Of course, there's a paid version that is far more robust and in my opinion still SUPER CHEAP for the powerful tool that it is. I've had a subscription for years. If you want some great tutorials on Canva to really understand it's potential I highly recommend tutorials from Ronny Hermosa & Diana Munoz.
An introduction to a couple of my favorite Canva instructors
TANNER.LEATHERSTEIN
If you have any interest in how multi-thousand dollar bags are made or if you love to find new and unique brands you can go down a deep rabbit hole with tanner.leatherstein
Watching the content from this creator is what inspired me to write my blog post about fake luxury. He is a master leather tanner with his own product line called PEGAI (based here in Dallas), but he is becoming most known through his social channels where he makes videos breaking down some of the most expensive designer leather goods and showing you which brands are worth the money. He also gives insights into a number of smaller brands that are doing beautiful work at a fraction of the price (himself included). His Sharon tote bag is on my watchlist even though I truly don't need any more bags.
TECH & TRAVEL - MAGNETIC POWER BANK
This really isn't just for travel. I carry this little Magnetic Power Bank with me all the time. If you have an iPhone 12 or later this power bank will click on to the back of your phone and it's small enough to hold it in your hand and continue to use your phone. But the reason it's great for travel is that it has a little easel on the back of it that will kick out and allow you turn your phone in a horizontal position and use the phone as a mini-movie screen. This is great for Domestic flights when there aren't video screens on the airplane. Just download your favorite entertainment and put in your AirPod Pros (another favorite)
Magnetic Powerbank
The perfect thing for work and play to keep your phone running.
